After landing in the Dominican Republic, we got lost so many times on the way to our bungalow that our two-hour drive turned into a five-hour adventure.
Tired and hungry, we hoped to eat, shower, and go to bed. We enjoyed a delicious dinner very near the sea in a fairytale setting. Ah, a second wind.

Next up, a shower … only we were thinking it would be hot. It cooled down before Sam had a shot at it! Then, came the sheets … Sam’s a stickler for quality sheets. “I thought I was taking you to a really nice place,” he said. My baby! He was so precious with his apology.

The next morning, Sam walked to the lobby (no phones in this getaway) to notify somebody of the issues. I detailed them with a smile and “mucho gracias,” for the housekeeper when she arrived. I’m a stickler for thoroughly clean.

By the middle of the day, when we returned from grilled seafood on the beach, we were greeted by somebody offering to upgrade us to the most lovely of all their bungalows! There is magic in acceptance, without settling, in holding to what we believe to be possible in the face of what SEEMS to threaten it.… More
