Don’t cut each other too much slack …
My baby wanted beach time with family! It was “his event.” He planned, packed, and grilled. And I learned to trust just a little bit more. He had everything ready down to sliced tomatoes, torn lettuce, sliced cheese, grass-fed ground beef (shaped by him into 5.3-ounce patties), “beach-worthy” hotdogs, buns to butter and toast, Klondike bars on dry ice, etc. I told him we had napkins (with sand castles on them) and disposable plates on-hand; and he let me pack those. I asked him if he needed aluminum foil, a knife, a trash bag. We are a team, and it’s okay for me to be supportive and remind him of what we might need.
But it’s NOT okay for me to be afraid that he might forget something! And he can sense my fear–even if it’s just a tiny bit of fear! And therein lies the true value of our partnership. We both have the same resolve to love fearlessly! And we cut each other very little slack! … More
